Honduran Visa Application in the U.S. โ€” 2026 Guide

Checked September 2026. This page was written for this country and its details were checked against the authorityโ€™s own sources that month. Consular rules still change without notice, so confirm anything that will cost you a journey or a fee with the office that covers you. How we check our data.

U.S. citizens enter Honduras without a visa for tourism, within the CA-4 area shared with Guatemala, El Salvador and Nicaragua, where a single 90-day allowance covers all four countries. Consular visa work in the United States therefore concerns third-country nationals and longer stays.

Some nationalities need a consulted visa, which the migration authority in Honduras must approve before the consulate can issue anything. That approval, not the consular appointment, sets the timetable.

Residence is granted inside Honduras. The consular visa authorises the entry; the residence card is issued there.

How to apply

  1. Check whether your nationality needs a visa, and whether it is a consular or a consulted one.
  2. For a consulted visa, have the sponsor in Honduras start the authorisation first.
  3. Gather the category documents and have U.S. records apostilled and translated.
  4. Book the appointment through the official system.
  5. Attend with originals and copies, and pay the tariff.
  6. Enter within the visa’s validity and complete residence formalities in the country.

Required documents

Where to apply

At the consulate covering your U.S. address, through the national appointment system.

Additional notes

The CA-4 clock

Days spent in Guatemala, El Salvador and Nicaragua count towards the same 90-day allowance. Crossing between them does not reset it.

Extensions

Extensions are requested inside Honduras from the migration authority, before the authorised period runs out.

Hondurans need no visa

Dual nationals travel on the Honduran passport and deal with the passport section instead.

Documents go stale

Background checks have short validity, and the apostille does not extend it. Order them close to filing.
