Consulates of the World is an independent reference for people dealing with foreign consulates in the United States: finding the office that covers their state, understanding what a procedure involves, and knowing which questions to settle before they get there.
What this site is
A directory of consular offices in the United States, organised by country and by city, with a set of procedure pages explaining the consular formalities people most often need: passports, visas, civil records, citizenship, document authentication and powers of attorney.
What this site is not
We are not a government body and we are not connected to any embassy or consulate. We cannot book appointments, process applications, chase files or intervene in a case. We do not sell any consular service, and no service on this site requires payment.
Nothing published here is legal or immigration advice. Consular rules change and individual circumstances differ; for a decision that matters, consult the competent authority or a qualified professional.
How the information is produced
Entries are built from official sources. Every procedure page carries a banner saying how far that page has been checked, and whether this country has been through our source-by-source review yet. Directory entries for individual offices do not yet carry that date. Our methodology page sets out which sources we use, which figures we publish and which we do not, and how to report an error.
If you are in trouble abroad
Consulates provide assistance to their nationals in emergencies — detention, accident, loss of documents, death of a relative. That help comes from the consulate itself. Use this site to find the right office and its contact details, then contact them directly.
Who publishes this site
This is a small, independently run site, not the work of a company with a research department. Jose David Sánchez is responsible for this website and for the correctness of the information published on it. That matters more here than a masthead would: questions, corrections and complaints reach a person who can act on them, not a form.
Corrections
We publish a correction route rather than waiting to be told twice. If an entry is wrong or outdated, write to j19187232@gmail.com with the URL of the page and, if you have it, the official source. A correction backed by the authority’s own site is applied the same week. A detail we cannot verify anywhere is removed rather than left standing, because an unverifiable address is worse than none.
