Consulates of Egypt in the United States

Egypt keeps six consular offices in the United States. This page gives what we hold for each of them and links the six consular procedures Egyptian citizens ask about most.

Every office below carries the address and telephone we hold for it, and its official website where the mission publishes one. Where a field is missing it is because we do not have it, not because it does not exist.

U.S. documents for use in Egypt

Egypt is not a party to the Hague Apostille Convention. An apostille is therefore not enough: a U.S. document intended for use in Egypt goes through the full legalisation chain — authentication by the Secretary of State of the state that issued it, then the U.S. Department of State, then Egypt's own consular stamp. The last step is the office above, in person or by post.

Apostille status from the HCCH status table for the Convention of 5 October 1961, checked on 6 October 2026.

Translation

Documents issued in Egypt usually arrive in Arabic, so a U.S. authority will normally want a certified English translation, and Egyptian authorities will want the reverse for U.S. paperwork. Who counts as a certified translator is decided by the authority that receives the document, not by the consulate, so ask before you pay for one.

Closest is not always correct

Consulates divide the United States into jurisdictions by state, and the office nearest you is not necessarily the one that can serve you. Egypt publishes that division on its own missions' websites; we link those on each office page where the mission has one. For anything that needs you to appear in person, confirm which office covers your state before you travel. For postal services some offices accept applications from outside their jurisdiction and some do not — that one you have to ask.
