The most useful thing on this page is not a visa at all. Foreign citizens of Bangladeshi origin can obtain a No Visa Required seal in their foreign passport, which lets them travel to Bangladesh without applying for a visa each time. Foreign spouses and children of people of Bangladeshi origin can obtain it too.
Quick facts
Proof of Bangladeshi origin can be any of several documents: a valid or expired Bangladeshi passport, the dual nationality certificate, the national identity card, an online birth registration certificate, or a citizenship certificate from a union council or city corporation.
Fees breakdown
| Item | Cost | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| No Visa Required seal | Mission tariff | Placed in the foreign passport |
| Tourist visa | Mission tariff | For travellers without Bangladeshi origin |
| Business visa | Higher tariff | With company documentation |
| Work and student visas | Higher tariff | With sponsor documentation |
| Return postage | Prepaid envelope you supply | Priority or express |
Nationals of South Asian regional countries follow different arrangements, so the seal is aimed at the wider diaspora rather than at neighbours.

Additional notes
An expired passport is enough
For proving origin, a long-expired Bangladeshi passport works. People throw these away and then need them, so keep them.
The seal travels with the passport
When you renew your foreign passport, the seal has to be obtained again in the new book.
Women adding a husband’s name
A marriage certificate suffices instead of a court order, which is spelled out in the requirements.
Not for everyone
Travellers with no Bangladeshi connection apply for an ordinary visa in the usual way.
