One welcome difference from most missions in this directory: walk-ins are accepted during consular hours, Monday to Friday from 10am to 3pm. No appointment system, no queue platform. Turn up with the right documents and you will be seen.
Quick facts
The embassy in Washington serves Sierra Leonean nationals in the United States, Canada and other accredited countries — around ten in all — from a single office, so the workload behind the counter is heavier than the map suggests.

Additional notes
Dual citizens need a valid one
The embassy states it directly: for people holding dual citizenship, the Sierra Leonean passport must be valid, or an emergency travel certificate must be obtained. Travelling there on a foreign passport alone is not the answer.
Regional travel
Sierra Leonean citizens move visa-free within the West African regional bloc, which is one of the practical benefits of keeping the passport current.
The emergency certificate is one way
It is issued for travel back to Sierra Leone only. It will not get you out again, so it is a stopgap rather than a substitute.
Express post is worth it
The embassy recommends it for return mail, and with one office serving several countries, tracking matters.
