Travellers to Nigeria apply for visas online through the immigration service, with biometrics and document submission handled by the visa application offices that operate in several U.S. cities. Missions supervise the process rather than taking applications over a counter.
Quick facts
Categories cover tourism, business, employment, study and the temporary work permit used by companies bringing in specialists. Several of them require a letter of invitation with an acceptance of immigration responsibility from the host in Nigeria.

Through the online portal and the visa application office serving your area. Passport services and visa services are handled at different places.
Additional notes
Nigerians do not need a visa
Anyone holding Nigerian citizenship travels on a Nigerian passport. Dual nationals should not be applying for visas to their own country.
Yellow fever
The vaccination certificate is checked on arrival and is a standard requirement for entry, independent of the visa.
Business travel
Short business visits and actual employment are different categories. Working on a business visa creates problems on departure.
Keep the printed file
The portal reference, the receipt and the acknowledgment slip must travel together. Missing one of them stops the appointment.
