Andorran Document Apostille in the U.S. — 2026 Guide

Data last verified: September 2026

Andorra accepts the apostille, so a U.S. document needs one certificate from the Secretary of State of the issuing state — and no consular step, which matters because there is no Andorran consulate here to perform one. A Catalan translation is usually required.

Quick facts

RouteApostille
Fee$3–$25 per U.S. document
LanguageCatalan translation
Consular stepNot needed, and not available

That combination is fortunate. Without the apostille route, a country with no consulate in the United States would be very awkward to prepare documents for — as Guinea-Bissau and Vanuatu demonstrate elsewhere on this site.

Catalan translators are less common in the United States than Spanish ones. Ask the receiving office whether a Spanish translation is acceptable before paying a premium for Catalan.

How to prepare a document

  1. Ask the receiving institution in Andorra exactly what it requires.
  2. Ask whether Spanish is acceptable or Catalan is essential.
  3. Order a certified copy from the U.S. issuing office.
  4. Notarise private documents first, since the apostille certifies the notary.
  5. File with the Secretary of State of the issuing state, or Washington for federal records.
  6. Send tracked and keep copies.

Required documents

What is available here

The Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York, which represents Andorra at the UN and to three governments. It is not a consulate.

Additional notes

Ask about Spanish first

It is usually cheaper and quicker to obtain than Catalan in the United States.

No consular step needed

The apostille route is what makes this manageable without a consulate here.

Order two copies

Cheap here, and the courier to Andorra is not.

Never apostille a photocopy

The certificate attaches to an original or a certified copy from the record keeper.
