Philippine passports are issued by the embassy or the consulate general covering your state, by appointment, and the applicant must appear in person for biometrics. Your immigration status in the United States does not matter: what matters is proving current Philippine citizenship and identity.
Quick facts
Adults receive a ten-year book and minors a five-year one. Posts also run consular outreach missions in cities without an office, where the same services are offered on scheduled dates.
Fees breakdown
| Item | Cost | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Electronic passport, adult | Consular schedule | Ten years of validity |
| Electronic passport, minor | Consular schedule | Five years of validity |
| PSA birth certificate | Ordered from the Philippines | Online through the official service |
| Return postage | Prepaid flat-rate envelope | Priority or Express Mail |
| Payment method | Money order at several posts | Cash, cards and personal checks refused |
Several posts accept money orders only. Turning up with cash or a card is one of the most common reasons an appointment is wasted.

Name discrepancies
Where names differ between the PSA record and U.S. documents, posts require an affidavit of one and the same person plus evidence of how each name arose. Preparing it in advance saves a second appointment.
Dual citizens
Anyone who re-acquired citizenship under the dual citizenship law can apply for a Philippine passport, but only after that file has been approved and the oath taken.
Consular outreach
Outreach missions publish schedules in advance and fill quickly. They are the practical route for anyone several states from a post.
Plan the timing
Between appointment waits, production in Manila and shipping, several months of lead time is realistic before travel.
